The Start of the Erosion of Our Inalienable Constitutional Rights

I made a video touching on the absolute absurdness of H.B. 127 proposed by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D. Houston TX). I feel the need though, to write this to further magnify the significance of this bill. It’s not just about controlling guns. It’s about controlling people and controlling our rights.

H.B. 127 would do a few things. Among those, it would create a national database of gun owners. Not only that someone owns a gun, but what they own, how many, and where they are stored. This is similar to doxing. Anyone who had malicious intentions, or just didn’t like someone who owned guns, could potentially make a red flag claim. Such was the case with Matthew Riehl of Denver Colorado. He hadn’t broken any laws nor was he violent. Deputy Sheriff’s simply thought he was mentally ill so they went to confiscate his firearms so he can be evaluated. A 96 minute shootout was the effect and five deputies were hit, one was killed, bullets went through walls which hit two neighbours, and Riehl died with firearms he legally owned.

As awful as that story is, that is just the beginning of the potential harm this bill would do. The right to bear arms is one our country has embraced and was built on. Our forefathers knew the importance of arming ourselves for the defence of ourselves, and the defence of our country.

The argument has been made that the firearms considered were only muskets. Well, when we were arming ourselves with muskets, that’s what was available. Now, other firearms are on the streets and in the hands of cartel members. We can’t defend ourselves now days with simple single fire, black powder muskets. A potential assailant isn’t going to cary a musket.

The United States of America is in a unique position of power geographically and socially and has been for quite some time. Other countries know it they invade the US with military force, they’ll not only have to face the greatest military power in the world, but also the most heavily armed population as well. Taking away our firearms would do away with that and put a direct threat on US soil.

Aside from firearms, our other rights would also be threatened as they already are. We the people of the United States, enjoy many other rights to protect ourselves and our freedom.

1st: Freedom of Speech
2nd: Right to Bear Arms
3rd: No Quartering
4th: Illegal Search and Seizure
5th: Right to Remain Silent
6th: Right to a Speedy Trial and to Have Witnesses
7th: Trial By Jury
8th: No Excessive Bail
9th: Rights of the People Not Just Limited to the Constitution
10th: States have their own rights.

Those are just the first 10 of the constitutional amendments that would be threatened if this bill passes. The potentiality of this bill would pave the way for people like you and me to register our voices, would make way for police to come in to our houses and our vehicles without a warrant, and would do away with all the bail reform that has been worked so hard on.

People of the United States of America. I implore you to reach out to your representatives and tell them to vote NO for this bill. Tell them you do not want your rights infringed on.
